1776: American Independence
Writer, Producer, and on-camera expert
When delegates from 13 American colonies declared their independence from Britain on July 4, 1776, they could hardly foresee the earth-shattering consequences of their rebellion. What began as an anti-tax protest soon spiraled into a civil war, a slave uprising, an Indigenous freedom struggle, and ultimately a world war that would make and unmake empires. The familiar figures – Washington, Jefferson, Hamilton – share the screen with a vast cast of forgotten revolutionaries, including Native Americans, enslaved African Americans, women, and rank-and-file soldiers each in a quest to define what American independence would mean for them and their world.
